We are disrupting a £50 billion a year sector by providing homeowners a free and easy to use app and website to source tradespeople and offering tradespeople a highly effective channel to build their business and reputation.

We are passionate about delivering the best possible experience for our customers and believe working with us should be easy. One of the teams that makes this happen is our Web and Native Engineering Team.

THE ROLE

Our native apps are key to our future success.  As such, we’re committed to creating an amazing user experience for both our Homeowners and Trades businesses alike.  We have native apps in Both Android and iOS, which we’re migrating to React Native.

You’ll work in a cross functional SCRUM team and be responsible for bringing to life new functionality in our applications in collaboration with our UX, design and product experts.

As well as day to day sitting in a cross functional SCRUM team and taking part in grooming, planning, stand ups, demos and retros, you’ll also be a member of the Web/Native apps team and work closely with colleagues to improve and innovate our approach and execution of Mobile app specific software development.

ABOUT YOU

You will have 4-5 years of software development experience, across a multitude of technologies ideally including:

  • React Native, its libraries and ecosystem
  • Strong JavaScript and ideally Typescript experience
  • Good knowledge of iOS and Android operating systems and Native SDKs
  • Experience of shipping apps to both Apple and Android app stores
  • Solid experience consuming REST based services
  • Experience with 3rd party SDKs (e.g. Firebase, branch.io, AWS etc)

We like inquisitive, innovative, data driven and practical people. Along with these traits, you will also have strong object-oriented design analysis skills and good understanding of design-patterns.

Like us, you take code-quality seriously. You craft high-quality, unit-tested code, collaborating with your colleagues through code reviews and Git, whilst automated processes build and test your code as part of Continuous-Integration procedures.

As someone who wants to deliver a quality experience, with real value to our customers, you are keen on the frequent delivery of robust, high-quality apps to the App Stores, and will help us develop a continuous delivery approach to our native apps. You will also understand the intricacies and challenges of distributing software through these channels.

We’re looking for someone who will push for best practice and performance improvements at all times. You will be eager to keep up with new technologies and continually updating your technical knowledge and skills. We love Agile and we need our next colleague to have a similar experience of software development.

We love our customers and know that it takes commitment, ownership and focus from every member of our team to delight them. If that sounds like you, let’s talk.
